Material substitution between coniferous, non-coniferous and recycled biomass – Impacts on forest industry raw material use and regional competitiveness

چکیده
The competitive advantage of traditional forest industry regions such as North America, Russia and the EU is based largely on production processing coniferous (C) biomass. However, non-coniferous (NC) recycled (R) biomass provide cost-effective alternatives to C biomass, which have already decreased proportion use can potentially large impacts future development global sector. In this study, we investigate material substitution between C, NC R raw regional competitiveness from 2020 2100. analysis a spatially-explicit sector model (GLOBIOM-forest). Our results indicate that maintain their in baseline scenario where remain imperfect substitutes, circular economy increases availability Limited would increase relative baseline. On other hand, perfect decrease baseline, emerging South Asia Africa. We also show increased tends demand for pulpwood might lead an oversupply especially regions. This opens new perspectives and/or management these

Above-Ground Biomass and Biomass Components Estimation Using LiDAR Data in a Coniferous Forest
This study aims to estimate forest above-ground biomass and biomass components in a stand of Picea crassifolia (a coniferous tree) located on Qilian Mountain, western China via low density small-footprint airborne LiDAR data. LiDAR points were first classified into ground points and vegetation points. After, vegetation statistics, including height quantiles, mean height, and fractional cover we...
متن کاملA game theory approach to the Iranian forest industry raw material market
Dynamic game theory is applied to analyze the timber market in northern Iran as a duopsony. The Nash equilibrium and the dynamic properties of the system based on marginal adjustments are determined. When timber is sold, the different mills use mixed strategies to give sealed bids. It is found that the decision probability combination of the different mills follow a special form of attractor an...
